Responses to Auditor-General Reports

The Victorian Auditor-General has powers to review and assess the operations and activities of the Victorian public sector, to ensure they are being performed effectively and are reported to the Parliament in an independent and unbiased manner.

The reports prepared by the Auditor-General are a valuable means for the Government to enhance the delivery of a wide range of services to all Victorians, including education and training, healthcare, community services, public housing, law, order and public safety and the maintenance of the State’s roads, public buildings and infrastructure.

A response to the Auditor-General's Reports is prepared by the Minister for Finance on behalf of the Government as part of his accountability for management of public resources. The most recent response (for 2007-08) was released on 4 December 2008.
