Gateway Reviews and Best Practice Guidance

Gateway Reviews and Best Practice Guidance (formerly part of the ‘Gateway Initiative’) provide support to departments in the development and implementation of asset investment projects and programs.

The Review element of the former ‘Gateway Initiative’ is the only element to retain the ‘Gateway’ brand. Gateway Reviews are best practice reviews that provide targeted feedback at key decision points during a project’s life cycle.

The Investment Management Standard identifies those points in the investment lifecycle that are critical to shaping investments and delivering greater value for money. At each of these points guidelines describe how an investor can shape, monitor, control and evaluate an investment.

Life cycle guidance material supports the development and clear presentation of robust information supporting asset investment proposals.

Project Alliancing is a form of procurement suited to dynamic and high risk projects where a government entity collaborates with one or more service providers to share the risks and responsibilities of project delivery.

Used together these tools are designed to complement – not replicate – existing departmental processes as much as possible.
