Strategic Review of the VFMC

On 28 July 2005, then Treasurer John Brumby announced his decision to adopt Access Economics' recommendation to implement a centralised model for funds management for the State of Victoria. Under the centralised model, the Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) will engage with its clients in determining and implementing investment strategy to meet the investment objectives set by its clients.

Access Economics was engaged by the Department of Treasury and Finance to:

  • undertake a review of the current model for managing the State's financial assets; and
  • to recommend a business model that will achieve the Government's policy objectives and operate efficiently in an evolving investment environment.
