2005-06 Illustrative VPS A-IFRS Guide

The Guide provides an illustrative example of annual financial statements, and notes thereto, presented in accordance with Australian equivalents of International Financial Reporting Standards (‘A-IFRS’), AASB 1004 ‘Contributions’, AAS 22 ‘Related Party Disclosures’ and the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance (‘DTF’) Financial Reporting Directions (‘FRDs’) on issue as at March 2005.

The Guide is generic in nature and is not a Model Report issued by DTF in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994 .

Financial Reporting Training Manual

A-IFRS training sessions on Financial Reporting requirements tailored for VPS June reporters were held throughout May 2005. The primary objectives of the financial reporting training were to provide VPS entities with:

• an understanding of A-IFRS 2004-05 (AASB 1047) disclosure obligations;
• a practical understanding of 2005-06 financial reporting requirements under A-IFRS from the entity’s annual reporting perspective as well from Whole-of-government perspective;
• an understanding of systems and data requirements to prepare for the first A-IFRS financial reports in 2005-06; and
• implementation lessons learnt from TAFEs and VAGO’s recent review of the 23 "material" entitites for the purpose of reviewing the 2005-06 whole-of-government Estimated Financial Statements.
